Combat Weather provides a uniquely critical capability unlike regular weather specialists due to their highly specialized training and knowledge about how environmental and meteorological factors impact combat efficiency and personnel safety; allowing supported commanders to exploit weather conditions for their tactical advantage and minimize the risk from adverse weather effects.

SWO’s are trained and prepared to accurately forecast weather impacts across the globe and train to maneuver with their aligned Army unit via mounted, dismounted, or airborne insertion means.
